The module features four days of intensive offshore training in waters off Cork and the Shannon Estuary. Seagoing surveys and supporting laboratory practicals and lectures in Galway take place from the 7th- to 13th October. All other elements of the module are accomplished through student centered distance learning.

Places are limited to 20 and applications will be evaluated on the basis of a relevant honours undergraduate degree, participation in an MSc/PhD programme, a research interest, or significant professional experience. Places will be filled on a first come first serve basis and the course costs €750.

Completion of the module results in an award of 5 ECTS credits at post graduate level 9 which may be discounted against the credit requirements of structured PhD and MSc programmes. It is also available as a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) course to marine industry professionals.
