This is a first attempt to bring together UAS institutions from across different states to consider partnership opportunities in relation to a specific research theme. The focus on the environment for this first webinar resulted from a workshop which took place in Brussels last year, where a group with an interest in research and innovation around the environment agreed to keep in contact. The intention is to use the webinar to bring together these and other interested parties across European institutions to informally discuss expertise and previous project experience in this area and hopefully use this to start building collaborations which can target future funding. The webinar will be led by Dr John Bartlett, Head of Research at Institute of Technology Sligo, and an experienced Environmental Scientist with a track record of leading European collaborative research projects. The format of the webinar will be as follows:
- Dr John Bartlett, Institute of Technology Sligo, on the aims of the webinar and of establishing the network, on the expertise that exists in his institute, and on examples of previous collaborative projects in the environment area (and how funding was attracted).
- Mr Andrew Brownlee, Director of Research, Development and Innovation at Institutes of Technology Ireland, on the collaborative funding opportunities that exist around the environmental theme, including Horizon 2020, Interreg and Erasmus LLP potential sources.
- Profiles from any other interested researchers or institutes. We would like to invite anyone intending to join the webinar to talk about their own expertise and areas of interest and also any ideas for potential collaboration. Please contact me if you wish to take up this opportunity – slides can be uploaded to accompany your talk if required.
- Agreement on next steps and how to move collaboration forward.
The seminar is expected to last about an hour.
